Countering Disinformation Strategies for 2026 and Beyond

Misinformation and disinformation are increasingly shaping how people understand the world around them. This PSG First Mondays webinar examines new research on inoculation and prebunking, including what recent real-world experience tells us about how these strategies can work at scale.

Page Gardner was joined by Mary Coller Albert and Tim Chambers of Dewey Square Group and Roberta Braga of the Digital Democracy Institute of the Americas (DDIA) to discuss the latest findings and practical lessons for campaigns, advocacy organizations, news organizations, and pro-democracy institutions. The conversation explores how to identify audiences most susceptible to misinformation, use trusted messengers and culturally relevant content, build effective and timely interventions, and integrate inoculation into broader communications strategies.

The discussion also considers the challenges of anticipating emerging misinformation, the importance of repeated reinforcement, and how organizations can use prebunking to give audiences greater agency and the tools to navigate an increasingly complex information environment.
